The Legacy of COVID

Overview

The math skills, study skills, and positive attitudes toward learning that students develop during high school are critical to success in most college STEM courses. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic may have had a big negative impact on all three.

In this project, we analyze data collected at the beginning of economics courses before, during, and after the pandemic to see how students differ in their preparedness for college courses, and how this in turn has affected student learning in these courses. We also look into ways instructors can address potential gaps that have appeared to help these pandemic-affected students.
