The Dashboard
Overview
The Dashboard is currently a Cornell-internal system that lets our economics instructors explore historical assessment data. That is, it graphically summarizes performance of students and allows instructors to compare current results for a course to historical data for that course. Instructors will be able see where students are learning more (or less) than the comparison group in the aggregate and by topic area. This information helps instructors identify areas for improvement in their course and the impact of changes they make to their teaching.
The Dashboard also lets instructors see performance of different subgroups of students (for example, by race, gender, major, class year) so they can identify which groups might benefit from extra attention.
We plan to expand access to the Dashboard to instructors outside Cornell in the near future.
